Sue Lovell Announces for Mayor of Houston
Today, former Houston City Council Member Sue Lovell announced her campaign for mayor bringing the total number of major candidates in the race to 5.
Lovell was elected to City Council At-Large 2 in 2006 and served three terms.
“Now, more than ever, our citizens trust that public safety will be a priority, that the services they pay for will be delivered efficiently and on time, and that there will be an investment in the city’s infrastructure and their quality of life. I will honor that trust and deliver on those commitments,” she said in a press release.
Lovell joins attorney Tony Buzbee, businessman Bill King, and Council Member Dwight Boykins as the fourth challenger to Mayor Sylvester Turner.
While on council she championed the Historical Preservation Ordinance, LGBTQ rights, and issues involving transportation and policing. She served as the Chair of the Transportation Infrastructure & Aviation Committee and the Regulatory Affairs Committee. She was also appointed to the Houston-Galveston Area Council and The Transportation Policy Council.
